Since dropping off “Bodak Yellow” last summer, Cardi B’s racked up just about all the trappings that accompany superstardom. Unfortunately for her, though, one of those appears to be a massive lawsuit. On Thursday (April 26), TMZ reported that Bardi’s ex-manager, a man who goes by the name of Shaft (born Klenord Raphael) has filed a $10 million lawsuit against the Bronx entertainer.
According to the celebrity news site, Shaft, who says he’s worked with Bardi since 2015, believes he’s the one who transformed Cardi from a hot Instagram personality to the international entertainment phenomenon she is today. In the lawsuit, Shaft alleges that he’s the one who taught Cardi the ins and outs of the music industry and that he’s the one who facilitated her run on VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop
On another note—one that relates much more directly to Cardi’s rap career—Shaft claims it was his own producers, writers and associates that created her breakout single, “Bodak Yellow.” Shaft says it was this track that enabled Cardi’s rise to superstardom.
Additionally, Shaft says Bardi turned her fiance Offset against him by saying he robbed her. Shaft claims Offset told him not to steal from Cardi in a heated text message he sent last December and also says Cardi’s publicist was responsible for causing her to distrust him. In other Cardi news, the rapper, whose Invasion of Privacy album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, told her fans that she will soon take a break from performing because she is pregnant.
